As owners of Butterfly Loft Salons in Encino, CA, David and Alexis Thurston started hosting dinners with their stylists to discuss social media best practices several years ago and were among the first to harness the power of social media to grow a salon. As the Thurstons grew a national and international presence on social media, they begin to network with others doing the same—together, they founded Butterfly Circus, a team of independent stylists who banded together to develop educational events around the country. With the creation of Pulp Riot, the Thurstons put their digital wisdom to use leveraging social media to build a beauty brand.
